Amo Review
January 25, 2019
Disclaimer : I may be a clueless fanboy who absorbs one's idol's shit without a single scruple. Considering Metal Kingdom is dedicated to all kind of Metal music, I should have written this on RYM or Herbmusic, but as you can see, I didn't. Please read this as a review for a 'Music album', not for a 'Metal music album'.
I feel sorry for people who has trimmed their imprecation for this album to be shit, Amo is fine. Let's talk about diversity. Some are killer tracks, some are just generic sellout copies. Tracks like Mantra, Nihilist Blues, Wonderful Life, Sugar Honey Ice & Tea are forever memorable songs along with lyrics. As we can see on lyrics in songs like Mother Tongue and I don't know What to Say, Amo's theme is related to Oli's personal stories to some extent.
Overall musicality is good. Lee's riffs are still great and so are two Matts' rhythm sessions. Drummer Matt really knows how to make a catchy beat without being brutal. Jordan's keyboards completes Amo's atmosphere tryna sing about love. This may be disappointing for who has expected some solid Rock band sound. For a -just- music group, it's not bad at all. Trust me.
In general, Amo inherited its former's quote-unquote 'Alternativeness' and united it with contemporary Electropop materials. It does not gives us the sonic rejoice which BMTH used to present, but doesn't lean to sellout poopy pop style which the majority of this website hates either. Amo will recruit many newcomers to BMTH fandom(or cult, I must say?). This listening experience would introduce them to other Death/Metalcore bands if we're lucky enough. I hope they won't hate albums like Sempiternal, Hell/Heaven, and Suicide Season.
In my humble opinion, evolving to decent Electropop from pioneering Deathcore is worthy enough for a musician... but who knows. One last thing; If you want to listen electropop... there're plenty of others out there. I'm just saying. This is an Alternative Rock album. Several styles have mixed within their songwritings, and it's not that bad as you think.
Killer Tracks : 2, 3, 5, 7
Honorable Mentions : 4, 8, 11, 12, 13

Simply put, this is the worst BMTH album of all time. The entire track list is a slog, and the only songs with any sort of replay-ability are a few of the singles. Ultimately, the critical failure of this album comes from its lack of innovation. Bring Me The Horizon has spent over a decade changing the metal scene with release after release. However, NeX GEn contains nothing bu... Read More

As soon as I started the album, 'Dear Diary,' blasted my eardrums off. I got the feeling that it is the most similar to 'Crucify Me'. Nothing is better than biting off a beloved album from their past when a band is in creative cul-de-sac, right? However, after listening to the whole album, I realized that this EP is more respectable than I thought at first.

Bring Me The Horizon
Read More

Read More
