Metal Addiction 85/100
Do you like the 80's power metal? If you do, this album is for you. The fans of Sacred Outcry, Atlantean Kodex, or Iced Earth would love this album. Especially the vocal works on this album are amazing. The progressive variations embedded in some tracks are also remarkable, making smooth musical transitions between savagery and melancholy. This album sounds like an authentically black-flavoured release trying to conjure bitter-tasted metal out of the band's musical magic spell. The cold and ritualistic atmosphere is my favourite part of this album. But, I do not think that this album has successfully fused industrial rock in the form of black metal. Therefore, musically deficient elements in structure are somewhat easy to find. Dec 28, 2023

Recently finished listening to the band's latest release, Morbid Origin, which made me come back to this album again. It's the Norwegian quartet's best effort so far. Structure-wise, it's simple and straightforward but demonstrates the display of galloping speed metal in an exhilarating way. The band didn't do anything revolutionary in this album, but the legacy of the old thrashers like Sodom, Kreator and Venom was well restored with the fast-paced instrumental performance. Dec 28, 2023

It is a promising debut release with Coroner-esque technicality. This album is evocative of good old thrash metallers in the 80's like Testament, Coroner and the early days of Megadeth. Especially the guitar works are fantastic, showing jazzy, proggy and speedy feelings brilliantly fused in this album. But it is a bit of a bummer in mixing and mastering qualities. Drum works also need to be improved for the next release. Dec 28, 2023

It is a beautiful release with exquisite craftsmanship erupting the hallucination of progness. This album literally shows the definition of musical progress by boasting easy-to-grasp melodies and well-trimmed musicianship in the realm of instrumental performance and musical structure. Dec 27, 2023

I would say it is not a bad album when it comes to melody-crafting capability, but it is another indistinctive cookie-cutter release you would easily find in the same genre category. Speaking of the overall quality, it is definitely an unsatisfactory work. The Dutch syndicate should have been way better on this album, considering it is a long-awaited album since their debut release. Dec 27, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
It is the most hilarious metal album I have ever listened to. Especially the track no. 7 and 11 make me fall in love with old pop music. This album is the perfect renditions of elapsed pop songs in a blackened way. Dec 18, 2023
Metal Addiction 90/100
This is a sheer death metal opus with a blackened musical theme. Each track is composed of a straightforward musical structure with savage riffs pounding relentlessly. The only downside is the length of some tracks. Those are a bit short (some may say well-trimmed) to perfectly convey the attractiveness of orthodox death metal and the awesomeness of musicianship that Gorhoth can offer. Overall, it is a fantastic death metal release with a pure blackened originality. Nov 17, 2023

This album is in line with the band's previous effort, Blight Upon Martyred Sentience. It still sounds as cavernous as its predecessor. The psychedelic touches embedded sporadically throughout the entire album are really enjoyable. If you were happy with their previous releases, you would have no problem falling in love with this album. Oct 18, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
It's a good album with a quality production, considering the instrumental technicality that it offers. Probably it would be only me who thinks that vocals sound a bit muffled in some tracks. It is also a bit shame that the entire album is not that impressive when it comes to songwriting which lacks a bit of originality. Nonetheless, I cannot deny that it is a good technical death release. Oct 18, 2023
Metal Addiction 90/100
It is a fantastic avant-garde black metal album that has become a new musical benchmark in DHG's career. DHG successfully bounced back from their previous effort which fell short of expectations. DHG's sophisticated touch on songwriting is admirable. all the songs are well-composed on a microscopic level. There is nothing to complain about in all musical aspects because this album is a fascinating opus by the masters. Oct 16, 2023

NPT's full-length debut sounds like a lazy byproduct of their ingenious first EP. This album deserves to be labelled as a good instrumental album because the unison play between the band members in particular is marvellous. But the overall quality fails to be near what I expected from them. Oct 15, 2023

It is good to see KK enjoy his green old age by releasing his sophomore effort with Tim Ripper Owens. KK's land-haired perspiration for heavy metal is admirable. But that is all. There is nothing to compliment in this album, to be honest. I was surprised that the overall quality of this album was exacerbated compared to the band's first album which was not an impressive work either. Oct 5, 2023
Metal Addiction 55/100
I know nothing about the band's musical past. So, it would be unfair if I say something unfavourable about their music. But the overall quality of this release is as atrocious as its cover. Jul 23, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
This is the debut album of the Welsh atmospheric black metal outfit, which made me have high hopes for a quality metal release after watching the official video of 'Grains of Sand' in June. Unfortunately, the rest of the album is a bit of a disappointment. The remaining tracks have the shortcomings that new bands in the scene usually have in the nascence of their career: obscurity. In other words, the flattened structure without depth in sound. Jul 23, 2023
Metal Addiction 85/100
This is a genre-defying album. Screamo, punk rock, metalcore, mathcore, and progressive metal are successfully combined in a good musical form in general. But the formula to blend those varied musical elements is not working seamlessly in some tracks. Structure-wise, it is moderately intricate. But, there is no outstanding moment that portrays the musical coherence using adequate intricacy in structure. Nevertheless, this album is a good and sophisticated musical melange. Jul 18, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
The musical infusion of Entombed A.D. has been found in this release due to Guilherme Miranda. So, this album shares the same sound characteristic as the albums of Entombed A.D. It was a mundane task to analyse the structure of this album because there is no freshness to spot on. This album will be a huge disappointment if a Megadeth-like musical style is expected because of the existence of David Ellefson. Jul 17, 2023
Metal Addiction 50/100
If a band had a successful career with its own musical style in the past, the drastic change in style would be hardly accepted by those who love the band's past. The musical formula that led the band to success is rarely found in this release. This album is full of a banquet of musical mismatches in a dumbfounded way. Jul 17, 2023

It is a compositionally intricate album. It does not have any problems at all when it comes to the quality of instrumentation and production. But the dissonant nature of the structure is not harmoniously interwoven with other musical elements, resulting in the failure to reach the full fruition of mixing black and death metal. Succinctly speaking, it is just a normal death metal release. Jul 17, 2023
Metal Addiction 65/100
It is a guitar-led glam metal album which I cannot say is enjoyable to listen to. All the band members are competent on their instruments. It would be unfair to say it is a bad album. But there are no noticeable or memorable musical moments, which makes this album below average. Jul 17, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
I have never been satisfied with the works of Tim 'Ripper' Owens since he left Judas Priest . Vocal performance-wise, he has always been outstanding, but he has always failed to establish his musical legacy. This album would be just a normal heavy metal release if his name value was not taken into account. But I have to point out that he failed again to fulfil the expectations of those who have high hopes for him. Jul 15, 2023

Judas Priest is not the first heavy metal band in the world, but JP is the band that newly re-defined the etymology of heavy metal by riding on the wave of NWOBHM. Since Rob Halford left the band to pursue his solo career, JP had disappointed their fans with unsatisfactory works. But this album was a remarkable comeback with the quality that old JP fans had been eager to look for. The only drawback I noticed was the degradation of Rob's vocal ability. Jul 13, 2023
Metal Addiction 65/100
This album has failed to successfully deliver a tasteful blend of prog and groove metal. You may find some good musical moments in 'Nebulamorphous' and 'A Soliloquy'. But the rest of the tracks end up failing to add up an extra dosage of adrenaline to those who seek a chance to fulfil their head-banging desire. Jul 8, 2023
Metal Addiction 70/100
It is a straightforward-sounding album, reminding me of Bolt Thrower to a certain extent. Especially the opener, 'Archaic Magick', is a good track to initiate a doomed journey. But the rest of the tracks are not as appealing as the opener, diminishing the musical spell of this album. Jul 7, 2023
Metal Addiction 55/100
This album is a huge degradation in quality when compared to their debut album. Comparing the band's debut, the vibe of this album has been flattened due to the homogenised guitar works. The rest of the features are not memorable either. It is very tough for me to pick a single feature that is not bad about this album. Jul 7, 2023
Metal Addiction 40/100
This album is an epitome of a disastrous metal album. I cannot even imagine that I discuss the sound and structure of this album, because everybody who may listen to this would perceive that this album is not worthy enough of paying attention to intuitively. Jul 7, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
It is a good prog instrumental release by a German trio. The tone of the lead guitar works reminds me of Joe Satriani, but the influence of Steve Vai has also been spotted in terms of sound due to the catchy and easy-to-grasp melodies. The rhythm section also sounds tight and punchy backed by a solid song-writing. All in all, this album would be appreciated by those who love the music based on technical instrumentation with a light metal vibe. Jul 6, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
The album's title says it all: It gives you psychological spasms in your brain through cacophony. The unpredictability in structure is the most stood-out feature for those who love dissonance. But it is a bummer that the dissonant features are not well-organised, resulting in the over-messiness in sound and structure. Jul 6, 2023
Metal Addiction 80/100
It is the album that classic death metallers would appreciate. The riffs in some tracks like 'Eternal Horror' are so dense and well-organised, delivering skull-crushing power with massive double-bass drums to listeners. On the other hand, the catchy and groovy riffs are the most stood-out feature in some tracks like ‘Full of Hate’. All in all, this album is a good death metal release that deserves your attention. Metal Addiction 75/100
It is a good release with plenty of modern hardcore influences. The massive energy with awesome musical arrangements sounds exhilarating to a certain extent, but cannot deliver this power until the end of the album. But it is an impressive album, considering it is the band's full-length debut release. This album definitely makes me anticipate their next step. Jul 4, 2023

May 10, 2024

1990년도에 대체 무슨 일이 있었길래... rust in peace, painkiller, spiritual healing, cowboys from hell까지... May 7, 2024

May 10, 2024

May 5, 2024

May 12, 2024

May 18, 2024
