Recorded at Pagan Studios, London 1982, but first released in 1998.
A thematic album centered around magic/witchcraft and the occult.
The original title for the instrumental song "Acoustics" is "The Dance of the Banshee" and has been changed by the pressing plant of the CD for unknown reasons.

Also re-released on vinyl 2005, by Black Widow Records, with a different artwork and under the name of Judgement of the Dead, which was to be the original title for Volume 1. This version also comes with a bonus track, "March of the Dead (first version)" (03:55).
Black Widow LP-version is released as a normal black vinyl version with a biography book and printed innersleeve and as a collector's edition of 300 red LP's (also with the book and printed innersleeve), handnumbered on a small cardboard.

There exist a bootleg LP in 2 versions of this album, made in the USA in 1995 - first pressing with white sleeve limited to 100 copies and second pressing of 500 copies with black sleeve. They are of inferior sound quality and overall cheaply done.

The album got re-released under its original name ("Judgement of the Dead"), with the original cover artwork and with corrected song titles by Buried by Time and Dust Records on LP in 2010 and Cruz Del Sur Music and Shadow Kingdom Records on CD in 2012. The CDs and LPs contain excerpts of the Pagan Altar biography "Behind the Cloak" as liner notes. Note that the Shadow Kingdom CD uses the American spelling of the word "Judgement" ("Judgment") in the title.
