7. Mummified Priests (6:44)
"You also, like living stones, are being built
Into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood,
Offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
Through Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 2:5)
Wasting away, not relationship with God's Son
Heat of the world, not living water, mummification begun
Meat of the scripture removed, an empty shell remains
Arms crossed, closed in sarcophagus of sin, no more light of day
Testament of Old; God ordained the priests
Because man's relationship with Him was breached
A go-between for sinful man and creator
Animal sacrifices; a shadow of what would be more
Ultimate sacrifice; God's own Son; death and pierced hands
Now Covenant destroys the need for a priestly man
Mummified priest
Clinging to useless tradition
Causing spiritual malnutrition
Mummified priest
Praying with much repetition
Does not change decaying condition
Mummified Priest
The law was fulfilled by Christ's death and resurrection
The veil of the temple was torn to end the separation
God has invited us to come to him through Jesus
Perfected in perfect blood is how He sees us
So what are we saying when we pray through saints or Mary?
"Jesus your blood's not good enough to purify me"
And What are we saying when we go to a priest instead of Him?
"Say your 'Hail Mary's', His blood's not enough to banish sin"
The priesthood has been unnaturally preserved
It's gut removed by the New Covenant faking life is absurd
The mummified priest with the ludicrous smile
He's been dead for a long, long while
The mummified priest sure is dressed really great
His funeral was four hundred years ago, he's a little late
The mummified priest hanging on the wall
Eventually the withered body will fall
The mummified priest is a symbol of Christ's gift ignored
On display for all to see; this corps hanging on a cord
Mummified priest
Clinging to useless tradition
Causing spiritual malnutrition
Mummified priest
Praying with much repetition
Does not change decaying condition
Mummified priest
The Catholic church is an ancient machine
The priesthood corrupted throughout history
Rusted gears and broken pistons
Hidden under a surface that glistens
Grinding slowly to a halt
Who is to blame for it's faults?
Power given not to individuals
But to the priest to save their souls
For centuries this vehicle dept the church alive
But now it is time for the priesthood to die
The controls must be handed over quick
To the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek
Heed these words you who may be mummified
Tradition cannot keep you alive
Into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood,
Offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
