2. Elusive Light (7:01)
Rays of splintered faith slip through my hands
The remnants of my trust fall through my fingers
Like sand
(Is it good for the world to appeal to our credulity and not to ourselves. Is it good for the world to worship a deity that takes sides in wars and human affairs? To appeal to our fear, to our guilt, is it good for the world? To our terror, our terror of death, is it good to appeal. But who would not say we'd be better off without it if it was an aspect of humanism, an aspect of compassion, an aspect of the realization of human solidarity, the knowledge that we are all, in fact, all bound up one with another, and there's actually a sense of pleasure to be had in helping your fellow creature) --- Hitchens
Bring forth the dream
Promise of respite, harmless it may seem
Conjure: Misleading Sight
Chase the shadows, evoke eternal night
(There are people to whom that those thoughts do not occur, who are deaf to that idea, who only think of themselves, who wouldn't worry about the internal daemon assassin or companion. And there are, of course, people who only get pleasure from being unpleasant to other people and inflicting cruelty on them. The first group we call the sociopathic and the second group we call the psychopathic, my only problem is with those who think that they're all made in the image of God...) - Hitchens
Drink in the shade
Hold onto something, as your reach for sun's last ray
Give in to a promise of a gift beneath
The forking path will be your final stop, decide and breathe
Rays of splintered faith slip from my hands
The remnants of my trust fall through my fingers
Like sand
Bring forth the dream
Promising solace, harmless it may seem
