Forward went they, with weapons drawn
Swiftly under linden-shields,
Fervent were the fierce to battle.
When for their blessed one did serve.

Strong were they with hostile craft,
Men hell-prone, with wounding rage,
With steadfast faith and soulful mind,
Drove through the heathens striking blows.

Then a voice from high was heard,
Wondrously under the skies,
The sound of a prophetic word,
Emboldens they in evil bonds.

That then shall come among the hordes,
Hand-warfare, through spear grips might,
Send forth his spirit and so come hither,
To pave their way in deeds of spite.
