NWOBHM은 대략 1980년을 기점으로 급물살을 탔다. Judas Priest, Motörhead, Def Leppard 등을 필두로한 일단의 밴드들이 그 주인공들인데, 이들은 Hard Rock 사운드에 만족 못하거나 Punk Rock의 식상함에 질려버린 젊은 록 팬들 사이에서 순식간에 인기를 획득해 갔다. 하지만 누군가 씬내에서 정상급을 차지하는가 하면, 다른 누군가는 그늘진 곳에서 활동할 수 없게되기 마련이다. Judas Priest와 Iron Maiden 같은 운 좋은 밴드들은 인기를 얻어가면서 헤비 메탈의 제왕자리에 등극할 수 있었지만, 뛰어난 실력을 지니고 있음에도 주목받지 못하는 경우도 얼마든지 있다. 영국 출신의 Demon은 경쟁에서 그렇게 낙오된 밴드중 하나다. 이 밴드가 인기전선에 안착하지 못했다고 하여 실력을 무시할지도 모르지만, Demon의 작품들을 제대로 들어본 리스너라면 아마도 그런 소리는 하기 힘들 것이다. 그만큼 이들은 데뷔 앨범 Night of the Demon에서부터 뛰어난 역량을 담아내고 있기 때문이다. 전체적으로 나는 이 앨범을 들었을 때 Saxon의 초기 작들이 생각났다. 어딘가 블루지한 록 음악과 하드 록 사운드에서 아직 완전히 탈피하진 못했지만, 충분히 헤비 메탈의 응집된 에너지는 여과없이 느껴지는 그런 음악 말이다. 하지만 Demon은 Saxon이 초창기에 Def Leppard, Judas Pri ... A blend of pure and classic heavy metal with a good hard rock. One of the best debuts of all time for sure. The track "Father of Time" is timeless and "Fool To Play The Hard Way" is a great hard rock with an amazing chorus.

Pure nwobhm here, Excellent riffs and solos, the vocals are also pretty great, kind of short but its a fun HardRock-Ish Nwobhm Album.
