debutové album talianskej (v širších metalových kruhoch nie moc známej skupiny) Mastercastle sa nesie v Melodickom Power/Heavy Metal -e s Neo-klasickými prvkami. Občas v hudbe počuť aj Hard Rock -ové prvky. Zvuk gitár je skôr rezavý, nie moc hutný, ale nástroje sú celkovo dobre nazvučené. V čele kapely je front woman Giorgia Gueglio, ktorá má skôr tradičný (civilný) ženský spev, ktorý nie je postavený ani na výškach a už vôbec nie na nejakých áriách, avšak je celkom príjemný. Gitarová hra Pier Gonella (Athlantis, Odyssea, Necrodeath, Vanexa, Verde Lauro, atď.) strieda rôzne vyhrávky a inštrumentálne pasáže s riffovaním. Rytmickú podporu mu robia jeho spoluhráči z iných spriaznených skupín a to: Verde Lauro (basa) a Alessandro Bissa (bicie).

이 앨범이 메킹에 등록되다니, 그저 감사스러울 따름이다.
데뷔작을 내는 밴드들이 흔히 그렇듯이, 대개의 곡들이 수려한 멜로디를 자랑하지만 아무래도
앞쪽 트랙들이 더 좋다는 사실을 부정하기가 힘든 앨범이다.
물론, 이 앨범의 가장 큰 가치는 메인보컬을 맡은 Giorgia Gueglio의 발굴에 있다.
아래 리뷰를 남기신 분께서는 이 보컬리스트를 스테로이드 맞은 앤 윌슨(하트) 같다고 평하셨으나
그건 조금 과장된 비유다. 앤 윌슨은 그런 비유에 쓰이기엔 너무 대단한 보컬리스트니까.
다만 고음을 끌어올리면서도 상당한 파워를 유지함과 동시에 나름의 서정성과 고유성을 발휘하는 것만
보아도 그녀가 충분히 기대를 걸어볼 만한 보컬리스트임을 알 수 있을 것이다.
신보가 곧 나온다고 한다. 기대해 보겠다.

The mastermind behind Mastercastle is guitar great Pier Gonella (Labyrinth, Necrodeath, Odyssea), and he has created a fantastic melodic metal band in the neo-classical tradition. Gonella may be the creator, but the beauty, brains (she brought the lyrics: see additional info below), and the star is the mostly unknown Italian vocalist Giorgia Gueglio. Man, can this lady sing! She's sounds like Ann Wilson on steroids, but without the screeching that pierces eardrums. Gonella is awesome on guitar, but Ms. Gueglio steals the show.
This formidable combination is only made better by their back up: bassist Steve Vawamas and guest drummer Alessandro 'Bix' Bissa (Vision Divine). Mastercastle's debut is an amazing and nearly flawless listening adventure. I know it's early, but 'The Phoenix' is on my short list for metal album of the year. My kudos to Lion Music for signing this one!
Except for some slight downturns into a standard power metal motif within several arrangements, every song on 'The Phoenix' is well-crafted, soaring and excellent melodic heavy metal. Again, as I mentioned above, Ms. Gueglio is quite astonishing in her capabilities and delivery. Not to slight any song, her finest performances come on 'Words Are Swords,' 'Princess Of Love,' the truly amazing 'Greed Blade,' and the closing number 'Cradle Of Stone.' Also, Giorgia is genuinely passionate, clear and strong on the metal ballad 'Lullaby Noir.' Where has this gal been hiding?
