Skull Fist는 세 번째 앨범에서도 그대로 고전 헤비 메탈을 고수하고 있는 모습을 보여주고 있다. 매우 반갑게도 말이다. 다만 사운드 측면에서 Way of the Road가 좀더 구수한 느낌이 들고 있다. 앨범의 첫 곡 초반부에서 돌 굴러가는 듯한 둔탁한 리프가 흘러나오는데, 처음에만 해도 이제 이 밴드가 고전 헤비 메탈을 넘어 하드 록으로 거슬러 올라가는 듯한 느낌을 받았다. 하지만, 이어지는 전개는 앞서의 두 앨범에서 보여주었던 헤비 메탈과 크게 다르지 않은 양상의 음악이었다. 그러나 이전 앨범들과 Way of the Road를 듣고 있어보면 분명한 차이를 느낄 수 있다. 이전 앨범 리뷰에서 과거 노선만 답습하고 아이디어 부재라는 문제점을 제시했는데, 이 부분은 밴드로서도 나름 고심하지 않았나 싶다. Skull Fist에게 있어서 고전 헤비 메탈의 유산은 알파이자 오메가나 다름없었다. 이 노선의 포기는 있을 수 없다. 음악 스타일의 변신이 어렵다면, 사운드 면에서 변화를 줄 수밖에 없다. 그 결과 Way of the Road에서는 드럼 사운드와 베이스 파트가 강화되었는데, 개인적으로 이러한 변화를 긍정적으로 본다. 사실 이 앨범에서 Skull Fist가 큰 변화를 시도한 것은 아니지만, 약간의 변화를 주는 것만으로도 본작은 상당히 신선하게 들린다.
