메탈리카의 다섯번째 앨범은 스래쉬에서 멀어진 팝적인 터치로 흥행에는 대성공했으나, 같은 이유로 메탈 팬들에게는 호불호가 갈리는 작품입니다. 곡들은 나쁘지 않다는 것이니, 결국 스타일의 문제가 된 것이라 봅니다. 그런 이유로 본작은 이미 잘써놓은 곡들을 다양한 장르로 커버 했다는 점에서 즐길거리가 풍부합니다. 원작에서 느껴지는 질림이 없습니다.
