Starless night...Sails pitched to waning winds
beckoning voyagers to the swamp.

Decelerating in stagnant waters,
all varieties of pests descend
bearing mephitic offerings and maladies:
a gracious greeting for new arrivals.

Obfuscating mist undifferentiates sunless days -
depleting lamp oil reserves,
thus to be damned to drift in darkness.

Persistent dank fumes irritate mournful eyes...
