Cralde of Filth의 그림자에 갇혀버린 Hecate Enthroned은 비운의 밴드가 아닐 수 없는데, 이들이 Cralde of Filth라는 블랙 메탈 씬의 스타 밴드에 못지않은 역량을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 상당한 퀄리티로 만들어진 데뷔 앨범도 그리 주목받지 못했지만, 두 번째 앨범도 마찬가지였다. Cralde of Filth의 성공은 이 밴드에게는 불행일 수밖에 없었다. Hecate Enthroned의 절취선은 딱 두 번째 앨범까지인데, 이 두 장의 작품은 Cralde of Filth나 Dimmu Borgir의 초기작들 만큼이나 매력적인 작품이다. 그들의 두 번째 앨범 Dark Requiems... and Unsilent Massacre은 그들의 음악적 성숙을 한층 더 드러내는 작품으로 블랙 메탈 특유의 혼돈과 사악한 정서를 교차시키며, 지극히 어두운 정서를 표현하는데 주력하고 있다. 전반적으로 Cralde of Filth가 고딕 메탈적인 정서를 표출에 심혈을 기울였던 것에 반해 Hecate Enthroned는 블랙 메탈 스타일을 좀더 고수하는데 천착하고 있다. 심블 뱀파이어 인지라 대단히 화려한 북유럽 정서를 진하게 엿볼수 있는 수작이지만 이밴드가 이앨범 끝으로 대못 박힌 나머지의 앨범이 지리멸렬의 존재감으로 명성의 먹칠에다 한몫 대단히 안타깝네요

크래들? 초고음의 스크리밍과 초저음의 그로울링이 교차된다는 구성만 비슷하지 멀리서 울부짖는 스크리밍은 엄청 유니크하다고 생각한다. 전체적 분위기도 크래들과 구분되는데.. 무튼 수작임에는 틀림없다.

초기 크레이들 + 엠퍼러 1집 사운드의 결합? 상당히 2~3집 COF와 비슷하지만, 블랙메탈 정통 노선을 잘 따르는 멋진 엘범이다.
