Vicious Rumors의 셀프 타이틀 앨범은 이전 앨범의 원초적인 에너지를 뿜어내고 있던 상태에서 탈피하여 세련된 사운드로의 전환을 지향하는 과정을 보여주고 있다. 그 결과 이전 앨범들에서 밴드의 야만적인 힘과 숨결에 일부 팬들이 난색을 표하긴 했지만, 밴드의 변신은 확실히 성공했다고 봐야할 것 같다. 좀더 오랜 활동을 위해서는 필요한 수순이었다. 이 앨범에서 밴드는 전통적인 빠른 속도로 치고 달리던 파워 메탈에서 슬쩍 거리를 두면서 미드 템포로 접근 방식을 전환하였다. 이런 변화는 밴드가 좀더 다양한 스타일을 모색하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 아무래도 메탈 음악의 특성상 질주하는 스타일이 많기 십상인데, 밴드는 천편일률적으로 달리기보다는 다양성을 더하고 싶었던 모양이다. 하지만, 이러한 밴드의 노력이 무색할 정도로 Vicious Rumors의 노력은 큰 결실을 맺을 수 없는 상황에 직면하게 되었다. 밴드가 이 앨범을 내고 오래지 않아, 대안 록의 시대가 도래하면서 Vicious Rumors와 같은 군소 밴드들의 명맥은 위태로운 상황에 내몰리게 된다. 밴드의 수명은 그래도 끊어지지 않고 오래가지만, Vicious Rumors가 주목받는 순간은 결코 도래하지 않았다.
