The band originally went under the name Psychopathie, but changed it to Spasm shortly after.
The group define their style as "drum 'n' bass gigolo goregrind.”
Spasm does not employ a guitarist, only a bassist. All their guitar-like sounds on their albums and live performances are produced by a distorted bass guitar.
