І серце забилося у грудях люттю
І кров закипіла у жилах його,
Він каменем падав в гіллясту безодню
Й вона охопила Нащадка свого.

І там у долині, мов чорнії цятки,
Він бачив отих, що катували синів.
Ішли вони крадучись, як личить убивцям
Шукаючи здобич на втіху собі.

І листя горіло під поступом їхнім
І рідня Земля аж стогнала у муках.
Сам Ліс відвертав від них погляд у жаху,
Гіллям боронитись не маючи снаги.

І БУЛО ЇХ СОНМИЩЕ ГРІЗНЕ...

І Ворон узрів, що один він - не сила,
Що не одомстити йому за синів.
Піднявся на крила і темінь укрила
Верхівки прадавніх Лісів.

Він бачив, як Ліс обступила безодня,
Як трави чорніють і гниє кора,
Як гусне повітря й палають смереки.
Він стрімким польотом до хмар прямував.

І там попід Сонцем величним й палючим,
У світлих й прозорих мов Гнів небесах,
Він кликав до Батька, і всю свою силу
У клятву страшну і незрушну вкладав...

English translation:

AND GORGANY OPENETH EYES…

And the Heart hammered in chest with a Fury,
And Blood got boiling hard in His veins.
By stone He was falling into Abyss of Branches
And that Gape embraced IT’S Heir.

He saw lots of black spots there in valley -
It was horde of those who murdered His Sons.
They moved on prowling, like assassins do,
Searching prey for their malignant pleasure

And leaves was burning under step of their march
And in torment the Ancestral Land moaned hard.
Even Forest averse His sight in fear,
Not able for defense with armor of branches.

AND IT COMETH - THEIR GHASTLY GATHERING

And Raven beheld that He shows no strength alone
And cannot avenge for His dead sons.
He soared high upon black wings, and Grimness
Embraced the peaks of Ancient Woods.

He saw the Wood surrounded with Abyss,
He saw blackening weeds and rotting crust,
A char bleared air and burning fir-trees.
In violent flight He stormed towards the clouds.

And there, under Majestic Fiery Sun,
In Celestial Asgard, clear and serene like Wrath,
He called upon Allfadr, and with His whole Strength
He swore the Grim and Inviolable OATH…
