It is a pretty good dissonant black metal album. However, it seems keen on flaunting avant-garde credentials through its droning interludes and occasional atonal experimentation. Yet these choices come across more as hollow gestures than truly progressive musical ideas. Without a unifying vision to bind the disparate elements, the album feels like a collection of half-formed concepts stitched together without regard for overall cohesion.
