Kerry King sa po prvý krát rozhodol pod svojím menom a značkou vydať sólový album s názvom "From Hell I Rise". Po hudobnej stránke ponúka Thrash Metal s občasnými odbočkami k Power alebo trošku aj Groove. Na pomoc si pozval ostrieľané mená ako Mark Osegueda - spev (Death Angel), Phil Demmel - gitary (ex-Vio-lence, ex-Torque, Machine Head), Paul Bostaph - bicie (ex-Forbidden, ex-Testament, ex-Exodus, Slayer, Impellitteri) a Kyle Sanders - basa (ex-Hellyeah, ex-Piece Dogs, ex-Skrew). Album má dobrý zvuk a riffy, aj spev (krik/agresívny spev), avšak jeho problémom je monotónnosť a čiastočná podobnosť jednotlivých piesní. Zároveň vadia mi sračkové texty, ktoré na celom albume pojednávajú o bludoch a nejakých komplexoch K.K. Keby som mal 12 až 18 rokov, asi by ma to ešte bavilo, ale po desiatkach rokov počúvania metalu, beriem hudbu vrátane textov ako celok a niektoré nezmyselné texty mi vyslovene kazia zážitok z hudby. Kerry zamrzol vo svojej nenávisti a obdive diabla, a nevie sa pohnúť iným smerom ani o centimeter pričom neustále opakuje to isté, len s inou omáčkou. A keď ešte začne velebiť násilie, agresiu a iné bludy, hovorím si, že chlapec sa pomiatol.

I'll be honest I really like this album because I always liked Slayer but never liked Tom Araya's voice that much. I appreciate how King didn't try to completely deviate from the sound everyone likes. I love his style of playing.

요즘 스래쉬, 데스, 블랙메탈들은 음질이 너무 답답하고 끝까지 듣기가 힘들다. 오히려 메탈리카 1집같은 옛날 메탈들이 음질이 더 좋다.

It's good to see King's return to the thrash metal scene with a sound reminiscent of his work with Slayer. I anticipated a strong solo debut that retains the ferocity of his Slayer days while carving out his own identity, but he failed to fulfil my anticipation. One-dimensional sounding tracks with a lack of innovation are disappointing. This release heavily relies on clichéd thrash metal tropes. This musical adherence to genre conventions will please die-hard thrash fans.
