Lacrimas Profundere은 고딕 메탈 씬 내에서 굴지의 위치에 도달한 밴드로 여겨지지만, 그 시작은 미미했던 것 같다. 이들의 두 번째 앨범인 La naissance d'un rêve라는 명반을 듣고, 거슬러 올라가면 데뷔 앨범 ...And the Wings Embraced Us를 마주할 수밖에 없게 되는데, 이 앨범은 예상과 달리 상당히 조악하다. La naissance d'un rêve를 듣고나서 이전 앨범을 들어보면 상전벽해를 실감할 수 있다. 불과 1, 2년 사이에 밴드의 역량이 놀라울 정도로 일신했으니 말이다. ...And the Wings Embraced Us는 이 비범한 밴드의 시작이 얼마나 소소했는지 잘 보여준다. Christopher Schmid의 보컬과 아름다운 여성 보컬의 음색, 멜로디 라인은 훌륭하지만, 구성이나 리프 부분은 아직 궤도에 이르지 못했던 이 밴드의 모습을 잘 보여준다. 만약 밴드 사정이 조금 좋아서 프로듀싱만 잘 되었더라면, 본작은 비교적 괜찮은 데뷔 앨범으로 기억되었을 수 있다. 그러나 갓 활동을 시작한 밴드의 주머니가 넉넉할 리는 없다. 그 결과 다소 조악하게 비치는 작품이 탄생했던 것이다. 이 앨범만 들어서는 바로 다음 앨범인 La naissance d'un rêve를 예측할 수 없을 정도로 Lacrimas Profundere의 시작은 미약하기 그지없었다.
