RUN-D.M.C. 가 처음으로 선보인 Rap Music과 Rock Music의 콜라보레이션은 당시 굉장히 신선하고 엄청난 인기를 구가하게 되는데, 이런 Rock Music의 밑바탕에 Rap을 끼얹은 시도는 후에 Rap Rock, Rap Metal이라고 부를 수 있는 사운드를 탄생하게 되고, 더욱 멀리가서 Hip Pop의 그루브와 Heavy함에 근간이 되는 무겁고 낮은 디스토션을 장착한 Guitar로 1990~2000년까지 상업적 성공으로 엄청난 인기와 Heaviness씬에 부흥기를 이끌어온 Nu Metal이란 장르가 등장하게 된다.
시기적으로 RUN-D.M.C 가 1984년도부터 등장하게 되었는데, 이들 역시 결성년도가 1984년도인건 어느 정도 영향을 받고 등장하지 않았나 싶다. 그러나, Heavy Metal 사운드에 밑바탕을 둔 본작의 사운드는 RUN-D.M.C 와는 다른 결과물의 하나라고 보는데, RUN-D.M.C 의 음악은 각각 장르의 마지노선을 지키면서 절충을 했다면, 이들은 바탕이 Heavy Metal이라는 점에서 Hip Pop의 대치점과는 동떨어진 그루브한 Riff가 바탕이 된 사운드이다. 2년 뒤에 등장한 Anthrax의 는 이러한 음악이 등장한지도 모른채 이미 어느 정도 유명세가 있었기에 "메탈밴드가 랩을 해?"라는 반응과 신선함에 좀 더 이쪽을 효시로 보는 경향이 적진 않다.
