NWOBHM의 기수 중 하나인 Saxon의 두 번째 앨범. 이들의 작품 중 Strong Arm of the Law와 함께 밴드 최고작을 다투는 앨범이기도 하다. Saxon은 일반적인 헤비 메탈 밴드와 사운드 면에서 상당한 차이가 난다. 80년대를 맞이하여 대부분의 밴드들은 하드록과 블루스 록의 때를 벗어버리고 좀더 강한 음악을 추구했다. 물론 Saxon도 강력한 헤비 메탈을 추구했다는 점에서 일반적인 헤비 메탈 밴드들과 공통분모를 가지고 있다. 하지만 과거와의 거리두기에서 차이가 났다. Saxon은 여타의 헤비 메탈 밴드보다 과거와 가까운 거리를 유지했던 밴드였다. 그러한 사실은 데뷔 앨범에서도 어느 정도 느낄 수 있으며, 밴드를 인기전선의 궤도에 올린 Wheels of Steel에서는 좀더 선명히 드러난다. Saxon은 다른 헤비 메탈 밴드들에 비해 유난히 블루스와 친한 밴드였다. 블루스 성향이 짙은 Whitesanke와 비슷하게 보일 수도 있지만, 막상 들어보면 양자의 차이는 뚜렷해 진다. Whitesanke가 Led Zeppelin과 Cream 같은 블루스에 기반을 두고 있는 하드록 밴드의 음악의 영향이 짙게 묻어난다면, Saxon은 그와는 색깔이 또 다르다. 이들의 사운드를 유심히 잘 들어보면 의외로 Rolling Stones와 비슷한 모습을 찾을 수 있다. I can imagine the nostalgia many fans must feel for when this was a brand new style, but most of these songs are too basic. Please vary some riffs & beats... maybe a key change or tempo change. Anyway, it is a super early release from a towering discography, so who am I to complain.

각 곡마다 후렴구의 반복 횟수가 지나치게 많아 약간 귀에 거슬리기는 하지만 80년대 Rock을 느끼기에 충분한 앨범이다.

The epitome of average metal. Machine gun is a nice track, the rest is completely unmemorable.
