My most played album #247. Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations. In 1980 growing increasingly impatient the band decided that they would release their material through their own label, Happy Face Records. The album was recorded within seven days at The Old Smythy Studio in Worcester, This album came in a plain sleeve with no title, having on it only a signature of one of the band members and no track listings. The album failed, years later Metallica and Megadeth would cover songs such as "The Prince", "Sucking My Love", "Am I Evil?", "It's Electric", and "Helpless". For decades I could not get this record in stores, I finally got it and it is one of the greatest albums ever, 20 plays in 20 months, this will be in my top 100 in a couple more years! Rose 240 spots in the last year!

"Lightning to the Nations" is easily one of the best albums of the NWOBHM. All seven songs here are equally awesome and every song has an identity. These really are some awesome catchy kick ass songs with great melodies and riffs, whereas there is never a dull moment. The music on this album sometimes reminiscent Hard Rock bands with some blues parts, but it also managed to keep up with the changing sound of Heavy Metal genre.

Metallica가 리메이크한 Am I Evil로 유명하지만, 후대의 밴드들에 지대한 영향을 끼친 중요한 밴드이며 앨범 자체도 훌륭함. 헤비메탈 좀 들어봤다면 어디선가 한번 쯤은 들어본 듯한 전설적인 기타솔로/리프들의 향연.

헤비니스의 시작을 알리는 신호탄 한탄창 속 중요한 한발이자, 메탈의 갈길을 제시하는 올바른 지침서이며, 묵상할수록 깊은 깨달음을 내리시는 선지자의 잠언이고 빛입니다. 개인적 감상으로, 헤비메탈 시대로의 완전전개는 1980 영국에서 본작과 더불어, 사바스,오지,메이든,주다스,모터헤드 등의 별들이 이룩한 성과들로 이루어졌다고 보기에 더밝게 빛납니다.

Every song on this list is wonderful. Amazing riffs are amusing me. You know, Metallica covered 4 out of 7 in this album. Isn't that enough worthiness for you to listen to this?

80-90년대 나온 헤비메탈(특히 쓰래쉬메탈)에 가장 큰 영향을 끼친 앨범중 하나가 아닐까. 무엇보다도 이 앨범은 역사적 의미만 있을뿐만 아니라 음악 자체도 버릴 트랙 하나 없이 모두 진국이다. 언젠가 통째로 커버해보고 싶은 앨범 중 하나이다.

좋다. 헤비메탈의 정석을 보여준다는 느낌이 강하게 든다. 그만큼 현대 메탈뮤직에 큰 영향을 끼쳤음을 입증하는 것임에 틀림없다. 다만 앨범 발매후 시간이 많이 지난 지금 들으면(다양한 리프를 접한 후 들으면) 조금 밋밋하다는 느낌을 지울 수 없다. am i evil?은 메탈역사에 길이 남을 명곡이다.

캔맥주 하나 빨면서 대가리 흔들기 딱 좋은 신나면서 경쾌한 헤비메탈!! Sucking My Love나 Am I Evil은 곡 길이가 결코 짧지 않음에도 불구하고 전혀 지루하지가 않다. 8~9분대가 후딱 지나간다. 명반!
