페이스 페인팅으로 인해 Slipknot의 아류라는 말까지 들은 Mudvayne의 데뷔작. 하지만 Slipknot과는 확연하게 다른 앨범이라는 것을 들어본 이들은 안다. 뉴메탈이라고 한정짓기엔 Tool과는 다른 차원의 외계인의 음악이라는 느낌이 물씬 난다. 흔히 미국 뮤지션들 사이에서 brbr DENG 이라고 불리는 Ryan Martinie의 베이스음은 그의 테크닉과 더불어 그가 사용하는 악기인 Warwick사의 통통 튀는 소리를 최적화 시켜만든 사운드라 할 수 있다. 다만, Drop B튜닝은 1집에서만 적용되며 이후엔 모두 반음 올린 Drop C로 연주가 되어 무거움보다는 날카로움에 좀더 초점을 두게된다.
Negative One(-1), Death Bloom, Prod, Pharmaecopia는 이 앨범의 정수이니 건너뛰지 않는 것을 추천한다.
