Album of the day #7. Thunderstone - Tools Of Destruction
Underrated. It's a word that could be associated with Thunderstone in many ways. Despite many perfectly competent album compilations, the band has never been much of a hit with the public. It's a shame, because among other things, 2005's "Tools Of Destruction" is one of the best power metal albums of the 2000s.
In addition to the fact that the song material is full of high-quality and purposeful "basic heavy", there are also more complex and ambitious songs like "Land Of Innocence", there are no weak moments, and the album works best as a whole. Pasi Rantanen's singing voice is exceptional and it may take time to get used to it, but he is definitely a professional in his field. The same can be said about the other members of the band.
The album is actually the last great Thunderstone album, as the music gets heavier and lowers later. "Tools Of Destruction" is definitely worth listening to if it's not a familiar piece, because like the whole band, it's illegally underrated.
