데이브 머스테인이 키웠다고 해서 화제가 되었었지만, 전작에 비해 시원찮았던 반응 때문인지 이 앨범을 끝으로 셍추어리는 해산. 하지만 워렐 데인을 중심으로 네버모어의 역사가 시작되었으니, 해체가 그리 비극적이지도 않다.
이들의 음악적 분류는 좀 모호했다. 스래쉬라고 하기엔 치고 달리지 않고, 보컬은 아주 독특하다. 앨범 전체적으로 확 당기는 곡이 없는 것이 아쉽다. 그리고 녹음 상태가 그렇게 훌륭한 것 같지 않다. 그러다보니 이것저것 얽혀서 스레쉬 매니아인 나의 귀에는 어정쩡한 음반으로 평가되고 있다.
이미 해산된 밴드의 음반이라 요즘은 좀 구하기 어렵다고 생각된다. 네버모어의 팬들에겐 나름 좋은 선물일 수도 있으나, 80년대 스레쉬 매니아들에겐 매우 아쉽게 느껴질 것이다.

Back in 1990, making a sullen, introspective USPM album was certainly new ground in itself. Sanctuary’s small dosages of technicality and prog along with a pinch of Thrash in both the vocal delivery and riffs further make this a standout release for the time. Indeed, you could certainly call this thinking man’s metal, with its more philosophical approach to the genre.
