아마도 Black Metal을 즐기는 사람이라면 노르웨이가 이 불길한 장르의 종주국이라는 사실은 잘 알 것이다. 그것은 이 분야의 걸출한 밴드들이 어느 국가에 몰려 있는지만 대강 살펴봐도 충분히 알 수 있는 사실이다. 그러나 노르웨이 외에도 블랙 메탈을 여러나라에서 은밀히 자라고 있다. 개인적으로 프랑스는 눈여겨 보는 국가중 하나이다. 이 나라 출신들이 내 취향에 잘 맞는 밴드가 많이 있기 때문이다. Armaggedon도 맘에 드는 밴드 중 하나이다. 음울하면서도 건조한 전개는 사실 노르웨이 출신 밴드들이 이미 할 만큼 해본 전개여서 진부한 부분도 없지않아 있다. 그러나 Armaggedon는 그 진부한 부분을 살짝 뒤틀어서 신선한 맛을 낸 실력 있는 요리사이다. 살짝 뒤틀었다고 해서 듣기 불편한 정도는 아니다. 이들은 동향의 밴드인 Deathspell Omega처럼 난해함은 내비치지 않고 있다. 혼돈스러운 분위기와 비틀린 리프는 리스너가 듣기에 적절히 이해할 수 있을 만큼의 난이도에 머무르는 수준이다. 여기에 건조한 전개와 사악한 연주가 깔리면서 작품의 혼란스러운 색채는 훨씬 짙어진다. 개성있는 블랙 메탈을 찾는 리스너라면 Armaggedon의 Kill Yourself or Die를 한번쯤 들어보기를 권하고 싶다.

이 밴드 특유의 둔탁하면서도 건조한 전개속에 스며든 멜로디는 블랙메틀 순수함을 잃지 않으려는 밴드노선이 돋보이는 Armaggedon 의 1집 입니다.구구절절 스플릿 앨범만 내더니 자신들 만의 색깔을 확실히 보여준 데뷔앨범의 특징은 뭐니 해도 건조한 전개와 둔탁한 리듬 에 있다고 보여집니다.서서히 조여오는 전개는 이 밴드만의 색깔을 확실히 다져놓았다고 해도 과언이 아닐정도의 음색을 보여줍니다.
