전작 Wolves에서 밴드 고유의 양식미는 완성되었다. Melodic Death Metal을 기반으로 하여 Brutal Death과 Technical Death Metal을 일정한 비율로 풀어낸 이들의 사운드는 대단했다. 후속작 Manifesto는 Wolves의 노선을 특별한 변동없이 그대로 따르고 있다. 테크니컬한 요소가 살짝 약해졌다지만, 전작에서 쌓아놓은 밴드의 사운드를 저해할 정도는 아니다. 밴드의 음악세계에서 테크니컬 데스 메탈에서 빌어온 복잡한 리프와 구성은 여전히 Deadlock을 구성하는 중요한 인자이다. 이러한 요소는 Deadlock을 평범한 모던 데스 메탈에 머무는 것을 막는 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있다. 그러나 이 요소가 없었더라도 밴드는 아마도 나름의 인기는 얻었을 것이다. 이들이 만들어내는 멜로디 라인은 대단히 매혹적이다. 특히 Manifesto에서는 전작보다 그러한 경향이 강화되었다. 전반적인 멜로디는 좀더 경쾌하고 밝아졌으며, Sabine Scherer의 클린 보컬은 더욱더 매력을 더해가고 있다. 그러나 이 앨범은 전작에서보다 균형감이 떨어진다. 일단 모든 멜로디는 Sabine Scherer의 보컬 라인에만 집중되어 있으며, 브루털한 리프는 그로울링이 맡고 있다. 이러한 이분법적인 방식이 밴드의 고유의 방식이라면 납득 못 할 것도 아니지만, 작위적인 느낌이 든다. 그래도 멜로디 메 ...
