Edenian은 우크라이나 태생의 고딕 메탈 밴드이다. 이들에 대해서 별다른 소문을 듣던 바도 없었는데, 데뷔 앨범 Winter Shades를 들어보니 떠오르는 밴드가 하나 있다. 바로 스웨덴 출신의 Draconian이었다. Draconian은 아마도 현존하는 고딕 메탈 밴드들 중에 최상의 위치를 점하고 있는 밴드라고 봐도 무방할 것이다. Edenian의 데뷔 앨범은 바로 Draconian과 흡사한 양상의 음악을 들려주고 있다. 처연한 감성과 서정적인 분위기, 여성 보컬의 아름다운 목소리와 남성보컬의 그로울링이 상당히 조화로운 면모를 보이고 있다. Winter Shades는 각 곡들의 퀄리티도 다소 긴 호흡을 유지하고 있지만, 뛰어난 분위기와 멜로디로 쉽게 들을 수 있어 고딕 메탈 입문작으로도 손색이 없어 보인다. 다만 아쉬운 부분은 보컬의 목소리 녹음이 살짝 뜨는 느낌이 드는데, 이러한 부분은 경력이 쌓이고 어느정도 수준이 있는 프로듀서와 작업을 하면 해소되는 부분이다. 그러나 밴드는 이후 달랑 앨범 한 장만 더내고 작품 활동을 안하고 있는 상황이다. 상당히 재능있는 팀이라고 생각되기에 이들의 밴드 활동이 자초된 데에 안타까움을 금할 수가 없다.

Overall good music. While the singers' voices are very nice, they need to do a greater variety of things with those voices. This is a minor setback. It's still an enjoyable album from start to finish.
