광대한 메탈 음악의 세계에서도 Therion은 가장 강렬한 개성을 가진 밴드라고 하지 않을 수 없다. 아마도 이들과 비슷한 정도의 개성을 가진 밴드를 꼽으라고 하면 Haggard를 빼면 생각나지 않는다. 아마도 이들의 개성하면 누구나 웅장한 심포닉 사운드를 떠올릴 것이다. 그러나 이들의 초기 작품들을 들어보면, 이 밴드가 그러한 사운드를 처음부터 구사하지 않았다는 사실을 발견할 수 있다. 물론 이는 당연한 사실이라고 치부할 수 있다. 본격적으로 밴드의 역량이 만개하는 Theli나 Vovin같은 훌륭한 사운드를 데뷔 초부터 구사한다는 사실은 비현실적이다. 이들의 데뷔앨범은 믿기 어렵지만 데스 메탈에 뿌리를 내리고 있었다. Of Darkness...에서 이들은 날 것의 사운드를 보여주었는데, 그러한 면모는 앨범을 발표하는 과정에서 심포닉 사운드를 더해가면서 조금씩 변해갔다. 이들의 네 번째 앨범인 Lepaca Kliffoth에는 그러한 정황이 포착된 작품이다. 초창기의 날선 사운드가 아주 없어진 것은 아니지만, 분명 수그러든 상태에 심포닉 사운드가 얹혀진 이 앨범은 일반적인 Therion의 이미지와는 아직도 거리가 있다. 하지만 그 격차는 줄어들고 있었다. Lepaca Kliffoth로부터 Therion의 전성기는 머지않은 곳에 있었다.

An interesting amalgamation of Progressive, Heavy, Symphonic, and Death Metal. None of those styles are fully developed or refined yet here, but it's quite a unique record for its time.

I remember fall in love with the beauty in black...but today i enjoy tracks like evocation of vovin....this track anounced the begining of a new era in metal
