Time, 2238 A.D.
Place, Earth's orbit

Above Earth's atmosphere, space cracks open with a
silent lightning. A spaceship emerges from the rift and
slowly begins to approach the blue planet. The word
"Ship", however, doesn't even begin to describe it: it's
so massive that it's more like a flying metropolis. Its
presence casts a dark shadow on the North American
continent, leaving parts of it in a complete and terrifying
darkness.
