6. The Firefly (4:11)
The night was dark, but so were the days,
though about this I cared no more
I'd hit a point so low in my life,
this low I never have seen before
So one last tim I prayed to the maker,
while in my hands I'm holding the taker
I had no cares to fear anymore,
I taste the steel inside my mouth
And it was time
I had finally made up my mind
It would end here,
but what is this buzzing in my ear?
What is this? A mere firefly
Bright light flash corner of my eye
I had to stop and wave it away
with arm cutting through the dark
I closed my eyes,
the light was still there,
so then I had to shake my head clear
Now it was time to resume myself
and assume the task at hand
And then it danced, it was right in my face so fast
I took a swing, would'nt you know I missed the damn thing
But then I stopped, I thought of something and my arm dropped
I questioned why did life mean less to me than the firefly
Head in hands, I started to cry
with the tears rolling down my face
Was it ever really that bad
that I should put my life so waste
I said, what is this thing
I'm about to do
What is this thing
I'm about to use
So once again I stared at the fly
and I thought of those with less
Again it danced,
but now I started to understand
It was alive, for this alone
the damn thing would strive
As in a trance,
I started then to forget the past
Eyes open wide,
mesmerized by dance of the firefly
And then we danced,
like I was given a second chance
Somehow I felt, well I didn't feel
the pain I'd been dealt
And as we danced, somehow I knew it was not my last
I was alive and somehow I owe that much to the firefly
though about this I cared no more
I'd hit a point so low in my life,
this low I never have seen before
So one last tim I prayed to the maker,
while in my hands I'm holding the taker
I had no cares to fear anymore,
