2. Crimson Snow (4:14)
-verse 1-
Warrants nailed into splintered posts,
Hungry peasants hunt down the Corsican.
Bonaparte, has eluded them again
Mistaken identity, they have the wrong man!
-verse 2-
Retreating from Moscow, through the bitter cold
Plundering villages, struggling to survive
Sleeping in barns, praying through the night
Chattering teeth reveal their plight
-verse 3-
Weary footprints stamp the Russian snow
Far away from family, their heads bowed low
Buttons crumbled in the biting chill
Tattered cloaks, Soggy boots
-verse 4-
Visions of grandeur all dissolved,
French ambition, a dismembered fool,
Long ghastly trail, snaking through the dark
Cossacks pursue them like starving hounds
Chorus
As I lay bleeding, dying in this cold
I look back on my life so tattered and torn
Now as my weary life draws toward the end
I'll take my last breath as I gaze at the crimson snow
-verse 5-
Splintered wagons abandoned in the ice
Menacing flames dart towards the bridge
Flickering mosaic burns against the sky,
Silhouettes of death piling up high
-verse 6-
Bulging eyes staring at defeat
Screaming thousands, into the river they sink!
Panicked horses all mowed down
Nostrils flaring as they drown
Chorus
As I lay bleeding, dying in this cold
I look back on my life so tattered and torn
Now as my weary life draws toward the end
I'll take my last breath as I gaze at the crimson snow
Warrants nailed into splintered posts,
