포크 메탈은 쉬운 듯 하면서도 상당히 어려운 장르가 아닌가 싶다. 포크 메탈은 민속음악적인 요소를 담아내 메탈 음악의 저변을 넓혔다는 점에서 상당한 의의를 가진 장르이다. 그러나 포크 메탈은 이를 다루는 다수의 밴드들에게 양날의 칼로 작용하지 않았나 싶다. 왜냐하면 잘 다루면 분명 민속음악이라는 친근함과 강렬한 개성으로 강한 인상을 남길 수 있으나, 자칫 잘못 다루면 유치한 멜로디에 듣기 거북한 음악이 되기 십상이기 때문이다. 포크 메탈씬에서는 나름 우량 밴드로 불리는 Elvenking이지만, 데뷔 앨범에만 해도 이러한 포크 메탈의 단점을 답습하고 있다. Heathenreel은 분명 신인 밴드답지 않은 뛰어난 역량이 담겨있는 작품이다. 빼어난 연주력이나, 질 좋은 프로듀싱에 따른 고른 음질은 메탈 팬들이 이들에게 호감을 품을 요소가 다분했다. 그러나 본작을 듣고 있노라면 다수의 포크 메탈 밴드들에게 내재해 있는, 특유의 유치한 멜로디가 귀를 어지럽히고 있어 집중하기 어렵게 한다. 오히려 포크 메탈 요소를 배제하고 파워 메탈로만 올인 했더라면, 상당한 결과물이 나오지 않았을까하는 생각이 들 정도로 본작에서 포크 메탈의 민속적인 요소는 안타까움을 자아내고 있다.

na debut celkom dobré album aj s nedokonalosťami, niektoré pasáže ešte nie sú dotiahnuté, takisto spev ešte nie je dokonalý. Štýl: Folk/Heavy/Power Metal
