The Chasm som do určitého času poznal len okrajovo. Album "The Spell of Retribution " kombinuje prvky Death Metal -u s Melodickým Death Metal -om. Hudba je svižná a nosná časť hudby je postavená na gitarách a bicích. napriek tomu, že je to mexická kapela, výsledný dojem z hudby na mňa pôsobí európsky.

난 오히려 본작이 가장 맘에 든다. 이해할 수 없었던 후기작에서의 이들에 대한 찬사들은 이 앨범을 들음으로서 비로소 깨닫게 되었다. 언젠가는 후기작들도 다시 도전해 보겠다.

3집의 인트로와 함께 데스 메탈 역대급 오프닝이라 할 수 있는 첫 번째 연주곡이 돋보이며, 녹음 면에서 좀더 개선된 것 같은 느낌을 준다. 이 외에도 The Chasm만의 장점들은 이 앨범에서도 여지없이 드러난다.

이들의 앨범중 제일 흔하게 보이고 쉽게 구할 수 있는 것이지만, 그렇다고 해서 음악까지 그렇지는 않다. 역시 대단한 그룹이다. 상당히 분위기 있고 대곡지향적인 흐름에 어디 한군데 무리수나 어거지가 없는 사운드... 기대 이상이다.

악덕 레이블의 양대산맥 이어에이크 산하 레이블에서 발매된 물건이라 이 밴드의 앨범 중 그나마 가장 구하기 쉬운 물건이다. 부클릿과 CD의 아트웍 만큼이나 멋진 음악을 들려준다.
