They were one of the first bands in Peaceville records and a very influential crust punk band. After Deviated Instinct disbanded, Mid and Charlie formed a band called Spine Wrench, which is sort of the industrialized version of Deviated Instinct.
Deviated Instinct were the band who invented the punk term "Stenchcore", slang for crust punk. They put out a demo of this name ("Terminal Filth Stenchcore.")
