of neon & steel,
of wan, faceless beings
in dark smog—concealed

& cracks of black mirrors

How long until we drown
in a toxic deluge?
How long until our cities
become our tombs?

Miasmic mist rises
from shadowed spires
to choke the skies
& banish the amber dawn

Will our cries forever
echo in rustling leaves?
Or will they be lost
to a silent finality?

Frozen feathers flow
from the wind-swept boughs,
cascading through our dreams
to the nightmarrow
