브루털데스/그라인드 계열의 밴드가 무자비한 리프와 엽기적인 가사로 그들의 안티크라이스트를 표방한다면, Akercocke는 불경한 분위기를 조장함으로써 소기의 목적을 달성한다. The Promise의 읊조리는 듯한 보이스가 특히 그런 느낌을 주고 있으며, 뿐만 아니라 여타의 트랙에서 치고 달리는 부분은 여느 브루탈 데스메탈보다 더 무서운 그로울링과 어둡고 둔탁한 기타 톤을 선사해주고 있다. 로블랙에 가까운 스피드에서 어쿠스틱한 전개로 흐르는 부분은 이 앨범의 백미인데, Opeth에 비해 변화의 폭이 더욱 극단적인 모습을 보이고 있어 독특한 악곡을 보여준다.

It is a tough task to live up to the fans' high expectations if a band released a masterpiece before and is on the verge of releasing a successor. Akercocke successfully responded to those immense expectations in this album. Like its predecessor, it triumphs where many other black and death metal albums usually fail: musical experimentation. The instrumentation to execute the structural experimentation in this album is amazing by combining progressive composition techniques.
