Graveland식 바이킹 메탈의 진수를 보여주었던 Creed of Iron 이후로 Rob Darken의 음악적 역량은 완연히 자리를 잡은 듯하다. 어떤 앨범을 발표하더라도 이제 그가 상당히 들을 만한 작품을 만들어낸다는 데에서 믿음이 가는 편이다. 비록 국가사회주의자라는 사실 때문에 결코 좋아할 수 없는 사람이라도 말이다. Rob Darken이 이끄는 Graveland는 폴란드 메탈씬을 대표하는 아티스트라고 봐도 무방할 듯하다. Behemoth의 Nergal에 비한다면 손색이 있겠지만, 그 역시도 폴란드 익스트림 메탈씬이 배출한 가장 뛰어난 뮤지션이 중 하나가 아닌가 싶다. 본작은 아마도 그동안 Rob Darken이 Graveland의 이름으로 발표한 앨범들 중에서도 가장 멜로딕한 작품이 아닌가 싶다. 반복의 미학속에 흘러나오는 멜로디가 귀를 사로잡는다. 파워 메탈 밴드들의 자극적인 멜로디 라인과는 거리가 멀지만, Rob Darken이 만들어낸 건조한 톤의 음울한 멜로디는 지속적으로 듣게 하는 매력이 있다. 하지만, 본작을 계속해서 듣다보면 이들의 정점을 찍었던 앨범 Creed of Iron이 그리워질 때가 있다. Creed of Iron은 이 앨범보다 멜로디 면에서는 더 심심한 작품일 수 있다. 그러나 초기 밴드가 블랙 메탈을 표방할 때의 유산인 날 것의 사운드가 바이킹 메탈과 조화를 이룬 걸작이었다. ... See More
