2000년대 최고의 밴드 중 하나가 되는 slipknot의 시작이 되는 앨범이다. 첫 스튜디오 앨범임에도 버릴 곡이 거의 없는 뛰어난 앨범이다. 흔히 Iowa를 슬립낫의 최고 앨범으로 꼽지만, 내게 있어서는 이 앨범이 최고이다.

One of the most divisive Metal records of all time. Personally, I've always loved Slipknot, but I find this their least consistent album.

loved this album when i was younger, now i feel like it has a lot going on. compared to iowa with heavier riffs and less sampling, i don't like it as much. i like this album but it's not my fave from them

메탈 잘 모르는 리스너가 들으면 데스메탈, 메탈러가 들으면 그냥 고삐풀린 잼민이 마냥 양아치 포스 만렙 찍은 누메탈 밴드인데요. 그런 수식어가 붙으면 뭐합니까. 실패하면 양아치, 성공하면 대기업 사장 아입니까!!! 마스크 쓰고 다 줘 패자!!!

Respect to Slipknot; they devised their own version of nu metal without sounding like Koяn and it works very well. The drumming is mind-blowing and you can feel the enthusiasm from each member even though it's a studio album. Better than Iowa. A huge accomplishment.

20세기 최후의 뉴메탈 등극. 기존 선배들의 장점에 무리를 거느리며 다채로운 퍼포먼스와 들을거리를 제공. eyeless, wait and bleed, spit it out, purity, no life 의 트랙들이 폭발적이다.

1번 트랙은 인트로니 그렇다 치고 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10번 트랙만 넣은 데모로 출시, 그리고 해체 수순 밟았으면 군더더기 없는 전설적인 파이오니어의 앨범이 됐을텐데

혁명적인 앨범. '광기'를 음악으로 너무나도 잘 표현해냈지만 중간에 루즈해지는 트랙들 때문에 5점 깎음. 당시 공연 영상을 보면 알겠지만 이렇게 음악/라이브 실력/비주얼/청중 압도 등 여러모로 완성형이었다.

Slipknot paved the way for a new generation of hardcore nu metal. The First 6 tracks are memorable in every way, they are fast, heavy, and full of energy. The intensity dies down near the back half of this album. With songs sounding repetitive or slow. nonetheless this is one of pioneers of the nu metal genre.

어릴적 메탈이라고 하면 주다스 프리스트나 메탈리카 듣는게 전부였던 나에게 익스트림 메탈을 입문 시켜준 앨범이다. 분노에 가득차서 fuck을 외쳐대는 보컬과 소름끼치는 턴테이블, 깡통때리는듯한 퍼커션, 거기에 우리나라의 모 래퍼 뺨치는 속사포 래핑까지 어렸을때는 정말 충격적인 사운드 그 자체였다. 매운맛 Hybrid Theory 라는 말이 잘어울리는 앨범.

No termina de entrarme este disco con una gran crítica. Hay algún buen tema que me puede gustar, pero oír el cd entero me cuesta un mundo...

Roadrunner Records에서 Machine Head가 지니고 있던 기록을 순식간에 갈아채운 뉴메탈계 바이블격 Slipknot 셀프타이틀 앨범. 앨범자체가 호러무비라 유기성만큼은 이후에도 찾을 수 없는 완벽함을 지니고 있다. 앨범을 구매하고 (Sic)부터 Surfacing까지 몇 번을 들었는지 셀 수가 없다.

I think it sounds like bad Korn, I gave it a 6 out of 10 #6090 on my most played list, I'm surprised it's in the top 400.

익스트림 입문당시 sic을 엄청나게 들었던 기억이 있다. 펑크류에서 나오는 분노와 광기를 사랑하는 나에게 둘도없는 곡이었다. 지금 들으면 약간 심심한감도 있지만 이들의 광기는 아직도 와닿는다. 강한 초반부에 비해 후반부가 그루브와 랩이 강조된 느낌이 있지만 전체적으로 듣기 크게 지루하단 느낌은 못 받았다.

5년만 빨리 나왔음 판테라를 뛰어넘을 수 있는 메탈혁명 음반이 되었을건데 때를 잘못만나 뉴메탈이 되어 버렸습니다. 대신 돈을 많이 벌 수 있었지요.ㅋ
