윌슨형님이 일렉트로닉 음악 좋아하고 그동안 Bass Communion 활동한것도 아는데, 이 앨범은 뭔가 맥이 빠지는 느낌이다. 윌슨형님이 하고 싶어하는 음산한 느낌의 일렉트로닉 장르의 음악이 어느 정도 녹아있긴한데, 대중성을 의식한 느낌이 들어서 그런가 무드가 어중간한게 사실. 그동안에 했던 Bass Communion 같은 느낌의 곡으로 갔으면 차라리 나았을거 같은데,.. 중간에 껴있는 12 Things I Forgot 같은 트랙은 끼워넣기 느낌도 들고 이저저도 아닌 무난한 트랙같아서 너무 별로.... 그렇지만 싱글컷된 Personal Shopper는 무조건 이 앨범의 필청트랙으로 꼽고 싶고 윌슨형님이 일렉트로닉쪽으로 계속 나아가고 싶다면 이런 스타일로 갔으면 하는 바램.

펫샵보이즈나 디페쉬 모드같은 씬쓰팝도 좋아하는 개인적인 취향때문에 이 작품도 아주 좋다. 그렇다고 이게 댄셔너블한 씬쓰 계열이냐고? 전혀. 씬쓰 프로그라고 한다면 너무 오바일지…Man of the People이나 Personal Shopper같은 곡들은 그가 아니면 누가 만들 수 있을까? 너무 감성적이고 아름다운 작품이다.

이미 저번 앨범에서 쏠쏠한 재미를 봤던 팝클릭도 아니고, 그렇다고 HCE의 절묘한 아트 프로그 갬성도 아닌, 혹시 쓰다 남은 곡들을 모아놓은 게 아닐까 하는 의심이 들 정도였는데, 결국 상업성과 작품성, 그 어느 쪽으로도 인정받지 못 한 실패한 앨범이 돼 버렸다. 덕분에 포큐파인 트리 팬들은 환호성을 지르게 됐지만...

This sounds like 'life blows so I'll hit the boof and vibe' album. Y'know, it's good and all, and probably less emotionally draining for him and ultimately I can't care less if he's doing good. But I want more 'life blows and I want to die' albums in my playlist. Like 'The Raven That Refused to Sing'. That bites.
