Those who know and love Blue Cheer should already be familiar with guitarist Randy Holden. "Population II" was his first solo album, released in 1970 shortly after he departed from that band. It featured only Randy and a drummer named Chris Lockheed (hence the album's title). "Fruits & Iceburgs" is one of the heaviest and doomiest songs to have been recorded during this time (along with Black Sabbath's "Black Sabbath"). I love this version more than the one Randy did with Blue Cheer just a year before in 1969 on "New! Improved! Blue Cheer". While none of the other tunes here are as great, brooding and memorable as that one, they are still no slouch, either.
