패러다이스로스트(Paradise Lost)와 마이다잉브라이드(My Dying Bride)의 뒤를 이어 고딕 메틀계를 이끌어 나가는 Anathema 의 데뷔 앨범 리이슈! 시적이며 철학적인 가사와 각 곡에 대한 뛰어난 구성력을 보여주는 앨범으로 아직도 그 완성도에 찬사를 받고 있는 수작이다. 고딕메틀의 암울함과 아름다움이 대비되는 정서를 느끼고 싶다면 더할나위 없는 작품.

A few fantastic tracks like "Sleepless" that hint at their future sound, but also a lot of mediocre Death Doom.

2010년대 이후의 이들의 음악을 생각하면, 전혀 다른 밴드의 음악같다. 그러나 이들의 음악은 엘범마다 조금씩, 계속적으로 변화를 거듭하는데, 공통적으로 느껴지는 정서(우울,처연,고독,한탄 등등...)와 특유의 느낌을 이 엘범에서도 느낄 수 있었다. 훗날에 메탈밴드였음은 흔적만 남지만, 시작은 꽤나 헤비했음도 확인할 수 있다.
