걸작 Ace of Spades에서 한껏 기세가 오른 Motorhead는 긴장을 늦추지 않았다. 이듬해 발표한, 실황 공연을 담아낸 라이브 No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith는 영국 차트 1위를 장식하면서 Motorhead는 커리어의 정점을 찍었다. 이제 밴드는 자타가 공인하는 NWOBHM의 1인자나 다름없었다. 그 상황에서 밴드는 이전 앨범들 만한 역사적의의는 없더라도 그에 뒤지지 않는 수작 앨범을 발표했다. Motorhead의 팬들은 인정하고 싶어하지 않겠지만, 82년 이후로는 이제 헤비 메탈의 주도권은 다른 밴드들에게 넘겨주게 된다. Motorhead는 Ace of Spades 이후로는 새로운 모습을 보여주지 못하고 이 앨범에서 완성된 포맷을 답습하는 면모를 보이게 된다. 이러한 면모가 때로는 부정적으로 비쳐지기도 하지만, Motorhead의 마초적인 힘과 에너지에 홀린 팬들에게는 상관없는 얘기였다. 그들은 밴드가 기존에 만들었던 틀안에서 최고의 앨범을 만들었고, 거기에는 도저히 누구도 부정하기 힘든 퀄리티가 담겨있었다. 무쇠맛 록앤롤 강펀치에 골통이 울립니다. 데뷔작에서 세운 토대를 기초로 제련해낸 음악들이 줄지어 연쇄폭발. Overkill 과 Bomber, 그리고 Ace of Spades를 훌륭하게 잇는 Iron Fist 입니다. 흑백영화같은 이미지의 걸걸한 보컬과, 그것을 악기화 시킨듯한 톤의 베이스로 레미의 매력에 깊이 빠져들게합니다. 트랙 간의 기복도 없고 종일 매캐한 담배연기와 독한술 냄새뿐.

Motorhead never really gripped me. More Rockn'Roll styled heavy metal. The speedy moments are best, but too few and far between.
