My most played album # 56. Rush - A Farewell To Kings. The fifth studio album was released in September 1977. An amazing 8 piece band from Wollongong, Australia! They were going to be a 9 piece but the cowbell player could not kick his addiction to green M&M's so he was finally dropped from the band, so no cowbell on this one. They got a hit off this one, Closer to the heart a second single was released "Cinderella Man". You have to check out Cygnus X-1 and Xanadu. Some guy tried to tell me a 3 piece from Canada. Yea right. First of all, 3 people could not make all those noises and people in Canada have frozen hands so they can't play guitar, I call fake news! Anyway a killer album! #11 in Canada, no gold? Amazing!

70년대 Rush의 음반들 중 최고입니다. 신비로운 미지의 세계를 탐험하는 Xanadu와 거의 프로그레시브 메탈에 근접하는 무거운 매력의 Cygnus X-1 Book I 같은 대곡들뿐만 아니라, Closer to the Heart와 Cinderella Man 같이 비교적 짧지만 가슴이 따뜻해지는 멜로디를 갖춘 부드러운 곡들이 조화를 잘 이루고 있습니다. Rush의 완성은 2112가 아닌 여기서 이루어졌다고 생각합니다.

이번 앨범은 가히 프로그레시브 장르의 교과서라고 볼 수 있을 정도로 짜임새가 좋다. 포문을 여는 1번트랙, 프로그레시브 락의 정수를 보여주는 2, 6번 트랙, 그리고 두 트랙을 연결시키는 3~5번 트랙까지, 군더더기 없이 깔끔한 앨범이다.

Xanadu 는 이쪽 계열 최고의 곡이다. 어디 내로라하는 밴드 다 데려와도 죄다 때려눕힐 수 있는 희대의 명곡.
