Dark Tranquillity나 In Flames 같은 예테보리 지역에서 발흥한 멜로딕 데스 메탈만 듣다보면 간과하게 되는 밴드들이 많은데, 그중 반드시 놓치지 말아야 할 팀이 바로 Hypocrisy가 아닌가 싶다. Hypocrisy는 예테보리 메탈과 뚜렷이 차이가 나는 사운드를 들려준다. 밴드는 세 번째 앨범에서 좀더 심도높고 묵직한 사운드를 들려준다. 여타 밴드들이 빠른 템포의 스피디하고 공격적인 사운드를 추구하던 시절에 밴드는 기타 톤을 두껍게 하고, 육중한 리프와 공간감을 살리는 사운드를 들려주고 있다. 이러한 면모는 The Fourth Dimension을 좀더 둠 메탈스럽게 들리게 했다. 동시에 서정적인 기타 연주와 웅장한 분위기가 강해지면서 아이덴티티 차원에서 동시대 어떠한 밴드들과도 비교할 수 없는 독특한 위치를 선점하고 있다. 앨범에서 다루고 있는 소재도 단순히 사타니즘을 비롯한 반기독교적인 주제에 몰입했던 것에 반해, 외계인, 우주, 인간의 정신세계 등으로 The Fourth Dimension은 확장하는 등 Hypocrisy는 신장된 역량을 과시하고 있다.

tretie album"The Fourth Dimension" pokračuje v smere predošlých albumov, čiže pohybuje sa v európskom Death Metal -e, pričom občas niektoré piesne dopĺňa Doom. Peter Tägtgren okrem gitary a klávesových nástrojov prebral aj vokálnu stránku, pričom prevažne využíva hrubý growling s občasnými výkrikmi.

보컬 Masse Broberg의 탈퇴 이후 Peter Tägtgren이 처음으로 마이크를 잡은 정규 앨범이다. 멜로딕 데스 메탈로 완전히 노선을 틀은 다음 앨범과 데스 메탈이었던 이전 앨범 그 중간 어딘가에 놓인, 한마디로 다리 역할을 한 작품이라고 볼 수 있겠다. 2, 3번 트랙 같이 멜로딕한 곡들이 슬슬 나타나지만 아직은 데스 메탈의 영향력이 훨씬 우세한 느낌.
