L.A. Guns가 Vicious Circle을 발표할 즈음에는, 전작을 발표했을 때에 비해 대중음악 시장이 상전벽해 수준으로 달라져 있었다. Hollywood Vampires로부터 3년이라는 시간이 흐른 뒤에 발표한 Vicious Circle은 시기적으로 너무 좋지 않은 시점에 발표되었다. L.A. Guns는 고전 록, 헤비 메탈에 대한 대안으로 탄생한 얼터너티브 록의 주요 표적으로는 글램 메탈이 있었다. 즉, L.A. Guns는 대안 록 세력이 타도해야할 대상으로 공공연히 언급했던 부류의 일원에 해당되었다. 여기에 대한 L.A. Guns의 답변은 명쾌했다. 비교적 다양한 사운드로 흥겨운 분위기를 주도했던 Hollywood Vampires가 글램 메탈, 하드록 사운드의 경계에 있었다면, 후속작 Vicious Circle은 좀더 출력을 올리면서 강성 하드 록 사운드로 돌아왔다. 80년대 메인스트림 록 음악, 헤비 메탈의 대안으로 탄생한 얼터너티브 록이 Vicious Circle에 대해 비난할 거리는 없어진 셈이었다. 하지만, 글램 메탈 밴드로서의 이미지가 강했고, 또 앨범에서 밴드가 주로 연주했던 글램 메탈의 그림자를 완전히 지울 수 없었던 탓에 이 앨범은 그리 좋은 평가를 얻을 순 없었다. 다만 앨범에서 드러낸 L.A. 이정도면 준수하다. 말끔한 녹음에 헤비하고 다채로운 곡들의 향연. face down 의 그 짜릿함이란.. crystal eyes, nothing better to do 도 좋다.

이거 은근 구하기 힘든 음반이야~ 라는 모레코드샵 사장님 말에 속아(?) 산 앨범인데 생각보다 훨~씬 괜찮은 퀄리티에 굉장히 만족스러웠던 기억이 난다. 기존의 밴드 색깔과는 많이 다르지만 꽤 괜찮은 사운드를 담고있음.

성공적이었지만 다소 가벼웠던 전작에 비해, 하드한 매력의 음악을 시도한다. 멤버간 극도의 불화속에 계약으로 인해 꾸역꾸역 만들어진 엘범이다 보니 응집이 다소 떨어져 아쉽다. 좋은 곡이 곳곳에 있으나 따로 논다는 느낌을 준다. 밴드는 하드해지는 방향이 맘에 들었는지, 차기작에서 폭주한다.
