Septicflesh의 음악을 왜 듣는가? 이 질문은 '무엇이 Septicflesh로 하여금 다른 밴드와 차별화 되게 하는가'와 동치이다. 청취자 마다 각자의 이유가 있겠지만, 공통적으로 꼽을만 한 것 두가지를 생각해 보자면 첫째로는 오케스트라와 데스 메탈의 완벽한 퓨전일 것이고, 둘째로는 청자를 짓누르고 압도하는 특유의 분위기일 것이다.
이 두가지로 미루었을 때, 이 앨범은 '더 할 나위 없이 Septicflesh다운 앨범' 이라고 할 수 있다. Septicflesh는 2008년의 앨범 Communion서부터 이어진 길을 성공적으로 개척해 왔다. 이 성공을 증명하는 하나의 결실이 2019년의 멕시코 라이브와 그것을 앨범화한 Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX이다. 단연 최고의 퍼포먼스를 보여준 이 라이브와 앨범은 큰 성공을 거두었고, 이는 자연히 차기작에 대한 기대로 이어졌다.

시간이 한참 지난 뒤에 재감상하니 발매 당시에는 느낄 수 없는 마치 숙성된 듯한 진국이 느껴졌다. 그러고보니 이 밴드는 항상 그래왔으니 전혀 이상할 것 없었다. 역시나 전작의 사악함과 파워는 다소 줄어들었으나, 좀 더 폭넓은 레인지와 세련된 오케스트라 편곡이 다소 부족한 훅과 멜로디를 보완해주고 있었다. 근데 주문한 굿즈는 왜 안 와...

hudba Septicflesh išla vždy mimo mňa (hlavne growling mi vyslovene vadil) a rovnako je to aj na novom albume "Modern Primitive". Avšak z môjho pohľadu je určite lepšie, než predošlé albumy.

I like what I was hearing, but without getting too excited about the compositions. Still, I have to respect these guys: their career is long and they do a great job of making symphonic match beautifully with death metal.

역시 이쪽에선 독보적이다. 이번 신보도 완급이 적당히 이루어지며 클라이막스까지 여지없이 몰아친다. 전작의 사악함이 워낙에 독보적이었던 까닭에 조금 아쉬운점이 있으나.역시 믿고 듣는 Septic flesh!

Esperaba más de este trabajo de Septicflesh, sobre todo después de esperar tanto desde el Codex Omega. Tiene buenos trabajos, Hierofant suena épica y otros cortes y momentos sublimes, que chocan con otros ratos que no lo son tanto. A pesar de todo, y de lo corto que parece, es un buen trabajo.

신보란을 통해 처음 접해본 Septeicflesh의 2022년작. 첫 곡 The Collector를 듣고 기대치가 상승했다가 마지막 두 곡이 나오기 전까지는 그 곡이 그 곡인 느낌이라 매우 지루했다. 그래도 The Collector와 Psychohistory, A Dreadful Muse는 꽤 괜찮게 들었다.
