Pain Of Salvation의 음악은 화려한 테크닉이나 헤비함을 전면에 내세우는 통상적인 Progressive Metal과는 너무나도 다르다. 장르를 따져 틀안에 가둔다는 것 자체가 말이 안되긴 하지만, '난해함'이라는 말에서 합의를 볼 뿐, 다양한 감정을 분출하는 생명력있는 곡전개와 폭넓은 장르를 아우르는 표현형식으로 마치 신지(新地)의 음악을 듣는 듯 하다. 음악 만큼이나 컨셉도 무거운데, Pain Of Salvation은 언제나 고통과 허무를 이야기한다. 본작 Remedy Lane 은 밴드의 모든것이라 해도 과언이 아닌 Daniel Gildenlow의 입김이 더욱 강하게 풍기고 있는 네 번째 정규작으로 여전히 어둡지만 전작들에 비해 청아한 면이 다소 눈에 띄고 있다. 시련뒤에 찾아오는 체념의 웃음과도 같은.

Pain of Salvation za dobu svojej existencie vydali veľké množstvo albumov, pričom niektoré zanechali výraznú stopu na prog. metal-ovej scéne. Nové album "Panther" opäť spĺňa definíciu slova progresívny, to je byť pokrokový, skúšať nové možnosti a nápady.
