80년대 최고의 Power Metal 앨범이라고 평가 받는 Kings of Metal 발표 이후, 4년이 지나서야 밴드는 후속작 The Triumph of Steel을 발표했다. 밴드가 작품 활동을 미루고 있는 동안 헤비 메탈씬은 지각변동으로 붕괴조짐을 보이고 있었다. 그러한 상황에서 밴드는 흔들리지 않는 신념으로 The Triumph of Steel을 발표했다. 이들은 땀내 풀풀나는 마초이즘으로 가득찬 작품을 또 만들어 낸 것이다. 80년대에 전성기를 누린 밴드들의 90년대 행적을 살펴보면 놀라울 정도로 역량이 쇠퇴한 사실을 발견할 수 있다. 헤비 메탈 몰락의 주범은 역시 Alternative Rock으로 볼 수도 있지만, 80년대 주역들의 노쇠함도 크게 한몫하고 있다. 그러나 Manowar는 그러한 사태에 휩쓸리지 않았다. 이들은 다른 유명 밴드들이 허우적거릴 때 최상의 기량을 유지하고 있었다. 앨범 전체적으로 효과음, 내레이션이 너무 많아서 집중이 잘 안된다. 중간중간에 괜찮은 트랙이 있었지만, 과도한 효과음으로 감흥이 절감된다. 1번트랙의 경우 in-a-gadda-da-vida를 연상시키는 트랙인데, 라이브에서 파트별로 솔로를 하듯이 하나의 트랙에 이것저것 다 넣은 느낌이다. 역시 집중이 안된다.

I'm not "that" fond of track number one(frankly I think it isn't a fun song), but the rest of the album kicks ass.
