포크+멜로딕컬의 조화 가 상당히 인상적이었던 Ulver 의 데뷔앨범 입니다.완급조절과 포크요소의 적절한 코드가 딱딱하지 않는 유연적인 블랙메틀 사운드를 보여줍니다.전체적으로 리드미컬한 요소와 약간 투박한 보이스가 어느정도 불안정한 전개를 보여줍니다만,건조한 건성이 가득한 사운드가 마치 멜로디 의 전개에 적절히 스며드는 듯한 느낌이 강하며 다양한 구성이 돋보이는 앨범 입니다.

90년 중반 발표 당시엔 앳모스페릭한 분위기의 블랙메탈은 독창적이고 신선했음. 하지만 지금 들으면 미숙한 부분들도 많이 느껴지고 좀 지루함.

Lovely Pagan Atmospheric Black Metal, each track is wonderfully crafted to mix ethereal beauty with dark, cold aggression. Even the simple, repetitive acoustic track became a favorite of mine.

블랙 메탈에서 듣기 힘든 미성 클린이 어울림은 그만큼 블랙 메탈적인 리프로 짜여 있기 때문이다. 최초의 페이건 블랙 메탈 중 하나

철저하게 숨어 있도록 이면적인 북유럽 세게관이 드라마틱하게 펼쳐지는데 이는 가사의 세계관과 철저히 달라서 청자에게서는 이면의 세계관을 찾아 가는 재미를 주었던 앨범 ㅋㅋㅋ

팝블랙이니 뭐니 말이 많길래 들어봤다. 지겹고 예상되는 전개와 멜로디에 흥미가 확 떨어지는 앨범. 거기다 어느 부분에서 블랙메탈이란건지 모르겠다.

이런 환상적인 분위기를 쉽게 낼수가 있나. 장르를 떠나서 (여전히 포크 블랙이라고 생각은 하지만) 충분히 명반 자격이 있다.
