개인적으로 이러한 커버 앨범은 그다지 선호하지 않지만, Vader의 Future of the Past는 예외다. 본작은 커버 앨범인 주제에 이들의 정규 앨범 못지 않은 퀄리티를 자랑하고 있다. 일단 이 앨범은 선곡부터 잘 되어있다. 보통의 커버 앨범들의 경우 선곡 부분에서부터 상당한 점수를 까먹고 들어가는 경향이 있다. 그 이유는 선곡에 있어서 워낙 광범위한 장르에서 수록하기 때문이다. 가령 Death Metal 밴드가 커버를 하는데, 6,70년대 고전 Psychedelic Rock이나 로큰롤을 수록해 놓으면 청자 입장에서는 듣기에 앞서 당혹스러움을 감출 수 없게 된다. 분명 밴드 입장에서는 자기들이 영향받은 뮤지션들의 곡들을 엄선해 놓는 것은 당연하다 할 수 있지만, 리스너로서는 기존의 밴드에 대해 가지고 있던 이미지와 괴리감을 느껴 왠지 듣고 싶지 않게 된다. 반면에 Vader의 Future of the Past에서는 그러한 단점은 찾을 수 없다. 이 앨범은 철저하게 이들과 직접적으로 관련있는 사조를 이룬 밴드들의 곡들만을 수록해서 거리감을 느낄 여지가 없다. '김광석 따라부르기'같은 류의 트리뷰트 곡들 모음집. 묵직하면서도 아귀가 딱딱 맞아 떨어지는 연주를 듣고 있자면 어떤 부분은 원곡보다도 괜찮게 들리네?라는 생각을 하기도 한다. 대부분의 트랙들이 매우 유명한 곡들이라 정보 없이 이 앨범을 집어 들어도 부담이 전혀 없는 앨범.
